Breathing and Taoist erotic massage heals at workshop

Cleveland-Many men are searching for more meaningful erotic connection to themselves and others. Men living with HIV often have particular issues around touch and sexuality as a result of societal shame heaped on gay men and people living with AIDS and HIV.

As men take responsibility for their own erotic education, they realize there is more to learn about waking up and sustaining erotic energy, giving and receiving loving touch or expressing desires.

The Body Electric School teaches men how to connect with deeper centers of pleasure in their bodies. Through stretching, breathing and touching, men learn how to awaken and sustain full body erotic energy. The full-bodied nature of this work helps men gain greater access to their emotions in a setting that is playful, yet sacred, safe and honoring.

The Body Electric School has been leading educational retreats and weekends for men and women around the country for over ten years. These retreats have proven time and time again the intense power of loving erotic touch in the ancient form of Taoist erotic massage combined with conscious breathing. Personally, I have experienced the most intense and sacred encounters with myself and with my Maker through this work.

The healing potential of this work is limitless and people living with HIV or AIDS are always encouraged to attend. But never has a weekend been planned specifically for people living with HIV, until now.

"Celebrating and Reclaiming" is a two and a half day workshop for men living with HIV or AIDS. The first its kind offered by the Body Electric School, it will be held in a beautiful residential setting in the Cuyahoga Valley between Cleveland and Akron on August 22-24.

Each participant will have many opportunities to explore and discuss the impact HIV has had upon his body, mind and spirit. He will learn conscious breathing techniques for creating a deep state of relaxation and will learn to give and receive a full body Taoist erotic massage. The effects of this work are multi-dimensional: Men can explore the spiritual dimensions of erotic energy, enjoy greater self-acceptance as a man living with HIV or AIDS, and find ways to create more deeply satisfying erotic relationships with self and others.

The instructor for Celebrating and Reclaiming is John Ballew, a counselor and massage therapist from Atlanta, Georgia. John holds an M.A. in clinical psychology from Purdue University and is a member of the Society for the Scientific Study of Sex. He has taught workshops in gay spirituality for eleven years, which emphasize the connection between spirituality and touch.

Tuition for the weekend is $200. This includes a sleeping room on Friday and Saturday nights, all meals throughout the weekend, and a weekend of interand intrapersonal exploration guided by John Ballew. Financial assistance is available for men living on limited incomes.
